Image information
Description
A notoriously difficult object to view or image. The Horsehead Nebula detail can best be extracted by using long exposure astrophotography and Photoshop processing techniques. Approximately 1500 light-years distant and 3.5 light-years wide. Image taken at our observing site at Linden Observatory in the Blue Mountains on 18th October 2007. Celestron GPS11 with Hyperstar f1.8 lens. Meade DSIc camera, 40 x 30 seconds exposures.
